Burnaid Donation To Bali Helps Heal Little Boy
"Yes indeed, I can vouch for "Burn Aid" and have introduced it to many hospitals in Bali and they have seen first hand what a miracle it is....especially with little burns patients like Danny.
Danny's case is so sad. He was riding on the front of his dads motor bike when they hit a petrol truck which burst into flames. Danny had 3rd degree burns to 60 % of his tiny body and at only 6 years old he is very lucky to have survived. His father lost a leg in the accident and now cant work, his mother gets some work cleaning for tourist homes here but due to the lack of tourists at present, she is struggling to earn enough to feed the family. Danny and his father were taken to hospital after the accident and spent some time there but as his family are poor they were unable to keep paying the costs of hospital bills and medicine ( no medical insurance here) and no sickness benefits from the Governmant of course. So reluctantly they took Danny home. His terrible burns became infected and I found him close to death in the emergency room of a hospital here where I often work.....Fortunately for Danny the staff who are such good people, asked if I could take a look at him....( I have worked in Kuta after the bomb of 2002 ).
We took him into ICU , such as it is, where he was treated with IV antibiotics and connected to all sorts of machines to monitor him. His sad father slept under Dannys bed in ICU for two weeks. There were a lot of tears as you can imagine. Luckily, I had some Burn Aid in my clinic which I used to help Danny. However, his parents had used handcream as a last resort before taking Danny back to hospital and this caused so many problems. The dressings had not been changed for weeks and so I arranged to use the hospitals theatre, with the assistance of seven staff, we removed the dressings under G.A....and applied Burn Aid dressings....The staff were amazed at the speed of healing of his terrible wounds....and we continued to change the dressings every three days for two weeks. He surprised us all by learning to wink even though he could hardly move...!!!...He was then discharged
from hospital and came to our clinic for continued treatment...We arranged a visit to Dr. Asmarajaya from Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar, who has agreed to operate on Danny at a later stage with skin grafts etc....there will be many operations to come for this brave little boy. His confidence in us is wonderful and we are now great mates...his twisted hands need lots of physio and this he is doing himself by massaging his Mums shoulders for her...and mine too....he is a wonderful child and rarely complains.
We have managed to find him lots of finger puppets for therapy and he loves them and keep us all entertained with great fun and laughter...we love him so much. Ok, all from me for now...hope this is enough to get the story rolling....Hugs to you all at "Rye"...and my most grateful thanks....Gloria."
